Hungary’s upcoming auction of 32GHz spectrum has attracted three bidders - Magyar Telekom, CETIN Hungary, and Vodafone Hungary.
The country’s National Media & Infocommunications Authority NMHH (Nemzeti Media- es Hirkozlesi Hatosag) confirmed that it had approved the operators’ applications following a review, adding “the procedure continues with the breakdown and evaluation of the offers.” The permits are valid for 15 years, and can be extended by a further five.
CommsUpdate reports that the sale of the ‘greenfield’ 32GHz spectrum is actually a roundabout way of freeing up the 26GHz band, which is at present used for carrier services. The NMHH intends to use it for 5G following the 32GHz auction.
