Telefonica Tech has signed a collaboration agreement with STC’s cybersecurity unit ATCSC to share intelligence and develop responses to cyber threats in their markets.
The security units will cooperate on developing products and services for customers as well as share best practices, noting that enterprise demand for improved cybersecurity has surged during the pandemic as a result of increased digital transformation.
ATCSC noted that its Saudi clients saw attempted DDoS (distributed denial of service) attacks increase by 350% during 2020 in comparison to 2019. The firm’s VP of product management and marketing Abdulrahman Al-Manea noted that the pandemic meant that “many organisations across the globe had to accelerate their digital transformation journey and adopt new methods of doing business.”
Al-Manea said: “These rapid changes have unfortunately widened the attack surface”, with Telefonica Tech VP international markets sales Rames Sarwat adding that the collaboration agreement would let the two firms “share knowledge on the best techniques to detect and resolve threats in our respective markets”.
